With the lock on, each image keeps its own ratio using the last edited dimension.

Resize mode

Keep the entire image. Add padding if the proportions differ.

PNG uses lossless encoding. Quality does not apply.

Fit padding uses transparency when enabled. JPG always fills transparent areas with this color.

Files keep their name with a width×height suffix, such as photo-1200x800.webp.

Why Use Our Image Resizer?

Resize Images for Free

No signup, subscription, or AI credits required. Resize supported images directly in your browser.

Resize by Pixels or Percentage

Choose exact pixel dimensions, apply a percentage to each original, or start with a common size preset.

Maintain Aspect Ratio

Lock the ratio to calculate the other dimension automatically. Every image in a batch keeps its own proportions.

Batch Image Resizing

Apply shared settings to up to 20 images. Each image is processed sequentially, and a failed image does not stop the rest.

Adjustable Image Quality

Adjust lossy JPG and WebP quality. Choose PNG for lossless encoding and compare real output dimensions and file sizes.

Privacy-Friendly Processing

Your selected image files stay on your device. This tool does not upload them to our servers or cloud storage.

These are common size examples, not mandatory dimensions for every platform. Presets use Fit by default, keeping the entire image with padding if needed.

How to Resize Images Without Losing Quality

What happens when you resize an image?

Resizing creates a new pixel grid from the original. The browser samples surrounding pixels to calculate the new image. Changing dimensions also requires encoding a new file.

Does resizing reduce image quality?

Downscaling usually removes pixel information, even if the result still looks sharp at its intended display size. JPG and lossy WebP encoding can introduce additional losses. No setting can guarantee lossless resizing for every image.

Upscaling vs downscaling

Downscaling can make a large image suitable for a smaller display. Upscaling adds pixels through interpolation; this tool does not use AI and cannot recover details that were never present in the original.

Why aspect ratio matters

Locking the aspect ratio preserves proportions. For an exact frame with a different ratio, Fit adds padding and Crop removes edges. Stretch changes the proportions and can distort people or objects.

How to choose the right image dimensions

Start with the dimensions required by your intended display or document. Keep your original file and avoid repeated resizing. The sizes below are common examples, not current requirements for every platform.

How output format affects file size and quality

JPG suits opaque photographs, PNG preserves transparency with lossless encoding, and lossy WebP offers adjustable quality and transparency. Smaller dimensions do not guarantee a smaller file. Embedded EXIF and other metadata are not retained.

Image Resizing vs Cropping vs Compression

Image Resizing vs Cropping vs Compression
OperationWhat ChangesBest For
ResizePixel dimensionsChanging image size
CropVisible image areaChanging composition
CompressEncoding / file sizeReducing storage or transfer size

Choose resizing when your image needs different pixel dimensions, cropping when the composition needs to change, and compression when your goal is a smaller file. Here, Fill / Crop combines centered cropping with resizing, and output quality controls lossy compression.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I resize an image online for free?

Upload JPG, PNG or WebP images, choose dimensions or a percentage, and click Resize Images. Download your results individually or as a ZIP. No account, payment, or credits are needed.

Can I resize an image to exact pixel dimensions?

Yes. Choose a preset or turn off the aspect ratio lock in Pixels mode, then enter width and height. Fit produces the exact canvas size with padding when needed, Crop fills it by cropping, and Stretch can distort the image.

How do I resize an image without stretching it?

Keep Lock aspect ratio enabled in Pixels mode, use Percentage mode, or choose Fit or Fill / Crop for an exact frame. Fit keeps the entire image; Crop removes edges instead of distorting proportions.

Does resizing an image reduce quality?

It can. Shrinking usually discards pixel information, enlarging cannot restore missing detail, and lossy encoding can introduce artifacts. Work from the original and choose dimensions and quality suitable for your use.

Can I resize multiple images at once?

Yes. Add up to 20 images, up to 30 MB each and 100 MB total input. Outputs are limited to 16 megapixels and 16,384 pixels per side. Input limits depend on your browser and device: typically 48 MP on desktop, 32 MP on mobile, or 24 MP with limited memory or older decoders. Capable desktops may accept up to 72 MP. A conservative memory budget can require a smaller output, which you choose explicitly. Total output is limited to 100 MB. Each image is processed one at a time; smaller batches may be needed on devices with limited memory.

Can I resize JPG, PNG and WebP images?

Yes, still JPG/JPEG, PNG, and WebP images are supported as inputs and outputs when your browser provides the required codecs. Keep Original re-encodes to the detected input format. Unsupported export formats produce an error instead of a mislabeled file. Animated PNG and WebP are rejected.

How do I resize an image by percentage?

Choose Percentage and select 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%, 150%, or 200%, or enter a custom positive percentage up to 10,000%. Each output dimension is calculated from that image’s original size, rounded to the nearest pixel, and checked against output limits.

Can I resize an image on my phone?

Yes, in a modern mobile browser with supported image decoding and encoding. The controls stack on smaller screens. Very large images may exceed available memory; try fewer images or smaller output dimensions.

What is the difference between resizing and cropping?

Resizing changes pixel dimensions. Cropping removes part of the visible image. This tool combines resizing with optional centered cropping when Fill / Crop is selected; it does not include an interactive crop editor.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Your selected image files are decoded and resized locally in this browser tab. Clear the batch or leave the page to release image resources. Download results before leaving because the tool does not save them in your account.
